International School

We have recently been re-accredited as an International School, an award given by the British Council, acknowledging the international learning included in our curriculum.  Our links with schools in Uganda and China are strong and this was acknowledged by the award assessor as being an important element in the children's understanding and on-going development of pedagogy for all schools. The link with St Mulumba in Uganda has been established for many years and the children are proactive in raising funds and collecting resources to send via DHL, who assist the school in transportation. A reciprocal visit with teachers from Shanghai developed the maths understanding creating interest and intrigue in the way in which maths is understood and taught.  Children are given many opportunities to learn about global issues through brain building projects, exchange of work between schools, termly topic work, visiting workshops, international visitors and reciprocal visits to enrich the understanding of children in all schools. Whitchurch gives children a clear sense of the importance of themselves as global citizens, their responsibilities, together with an awareness and understanding of the needs of other cultures.
